Red Light Therapy for Wrinkles and Reducing Signs of Aging

But another major part of our ongoing commitment to creating and delivering the best home light therapy solutions is assessing the effectiveness of our current products. 

One of our in-house consumer studies focused on the effectiveness of using our reVive Light Therapy™ Clinical – Wrinkle Reduction & Anti-Aging device for facial rejuvenation. We aim to answer the questions consumers have about using red light therapy for wrinkles and signs of aging.

The Study 

The red light therapy for wrinkle reduction study was a consumer study including both men and women between the ages of 39 and 66.  

Participants performed a baseline self-evaluation of their skin before the study. Then they used the reVive Light Therapy™ Clinical according to device instructions for 10 weeks.

Each week, participants reported the effects they saw on a range of skin concerns including the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet; brown spots; acne; and skin tone and texture. 

The Results 

The results speak for themselves. 

Overall, 97.4% of subjects reported visible improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, and skin tone, with: 

• 76.9% of the subjects rating their improvement in fine lines at the highest levels of Good, Above Average, or Significant over the 10-week treatment cycle 
• 69.2% of the subjects rating their improvement in crow’s feet at the highest levels of Good, Above Average, or Significant over the 10-week treatment cycle 
• 92.3% of the subjects rating their improvement in skin tone at the highest levels of Good, Above Average, or Significant over the 10-week treatment cycle 

Participants reported consistent week-over-week improvement in the reduction of pores, fine lines, crow’s feet, brown spots, and new breakouts. Additionally, they saw accompanying improvement in existing acne, skin tone and texture, and overall skin condition.

Participants also reported that the net result of all these positive effects was an increased sense of well-being, which we think is the most important thing of all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which wavelengths are used in light therapy?

• Health and wellness light therapy devices use LEDs that emit light in the blue, amber, red, or infrared range of the light spectrum, depending on the purpose. Energy wavelengths are shorter toward the blue end of the spectrum and longer toward the infrared end of the spectrum. The human eye can see light from about 380 nm (at the blue end) to about 750 nm (at the red end). The infrared waves can penetrate deeply to relieve muscle and joint pain. Does red light therapy use UV wavelengths? 

• Red and infrared LEDs produce no UV rays, so there’s no risk of skin cancer like there is from the sun. LED light therapy uses LEDs that emit non-invasive, non-UV wavelengths to promote cellular growth and relieve a range of conditions.

What skincare products can you use with light therapy?

• Use LED light therapy products on a clean face. You can use creams with ingredients like salicylic acid and other beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) alongside your light therapy devices.
