FDA-Cleared LEDs
The dpl® Flex Pad includes two types of LED lights — red and infrared. These LEDs are the same FDA-cleared lights professional physical therapists use in the office. Red light operates close to the skin’s surface to energize cells, while infrared light penetrates further for deep-tissue relief from pain and soreness. Both red and infrared LEDs are UV-free and safe to use.
Be aware that infrared light is invisible to the human eye. It may look like some of the lights are not working, but if you can see the red lights working, the infrared lights are also on.

The battery started with three 20-minute applications between charges. The device does not work while charging. After six weeks of daily use, I’m now getting 45 minutes of use between charges. Once the battery stops charging, the device will be useless. I hope to get half a year of use overall, but I believe the device would be a better value if it were not battery-operated.

If the battery life is less than 40 minutes total before the end of your warranty period, I would recommend reaching out to Customer Service.

I ordered the flex pad because I acutely injured my Extensor Carpi Ulnaris tendon which caused severe wrist pain particularly with twisting motions and also caused tennis elbow. I really did a number on the ECU muscle and tendons! I may have also injured the TFCC (but that was never confirmed). I took off 8 weeks from all activity in a splint and then started hand therapy. Every time I tried to resume any tennis activity the soreness would return. The hand therapy was helping slowly, however I was getting to the end of allowable visits, so I figured that getting a red light device would help with blood flow to the area to help with the tendons and possibly ligaments of tfcc and combined with muscle strengthening exercises it would help these areas further heal. I did not want a chronic injury. Within 2 weeks of two times a day use (in the morning and then after activity) there was a noticeable decrease in pain and inflammation in the area. Including after test playing tennis every couple days and doing other sports related activities and work with my hand. When I first used the device I would feel a little increased pain in the area and feeling of warmth and then it would disappear before the 20 minute session was over. At 4 weeks out I have no more tennis elbow and the pain in my wrist which is a tricky area to heal, I would say is 90% healed. I will continue with my strengthening and stretching protocol but also continue to use the device until I feel that the injury is 100% healed. My tennis partner suggested I try the red light therapy flex pad out as he had severe tennis elbow and could not grip a pencil and that using this device helped him resolve his tennis elbow.

This does eliminate my back pain. I bought it because I don’t want to live on analgesics. I’m a very active person and don’t want pain to get in my way. Thanks for your feedback. While we are always striving to improve our devices, there are good reasons for what you’re calling out.
Our first priority for all our devices is to ensure they are capable of providing the proper optical energy output which requires quite a bit of energy, hence the charge time, and limits on treatment time.
Secondly, we have to ensure the Flex Pad retains the necessary flexibility to comfortably conform to the variety of treatment areas it can be applied to.
These two factors provide critical performance limitations on the battery life. If we have a larger battery, it reduces the device’s flexibility. If we extend the power demand, we reduce the efficacy of the treatment which is never an acceptable trade-off for us.
To help ensure your Flex Pad is ready to use when you need it, we would recommend that once you’ve completely depleted the battery (typically 3 full 20 minute treatments from a full charge), leave the device on charge until you need it again.

I used it twice a day for one week I noticed pain was almost gone and the inflammation was reduced by 90%. it took me 5-7 days to see the results. the only “downside” the charge worked for 3 sessions if you have multiple areas it must be recharged. read the instructions make sure it is completed depleted before recharging.
