Blue Light Therapy for Acne Treatment
At reVive Light Therapy™, we have an ongoing commitment to creating and delivering the best home light therapy solutions to our customers.
In addition to watching the trends, keeping an eye on innovations in the field, and listening to our customers about the features, benefits, and opportunities for improvement of our devices, we regularly re-assess the effectiveness of our current products.
The following in-house study focused on the effectiveness of using our reVive Light Therapy™ Clinical – Acne Treatment device for the treatment of acne and related issues.
The Study
The study was a consumer study including both men and women between the ages of 18 and 28.
Participants performed a baseline self-evaluation of their skin before the study. Then they used the reVive Light Therapy™ Clinical – Acne Treatment according to device instructions for 2 weeks.
Each week, participants reported about the effects they saw on a range of acne concerns including the existence of acne, the frequency of breakouts, and the prevalence of acne-associated swelling and redness.
The Results
The results speak for themselves.
Overall, every single participant saw significant reduction of existing acne as well as future breakouts, with:

Frequently Asked Questions
Which wavelengths are used in light therapy?
- Health and wellness light therapy devices use LEDs that emit light in the blue, amber, red, or infrared range of the light spectrum, depending on the purpose. Energy wavelengths are shorter toward the blue end of the spectrum and longer toward the infrared end of the spectrum. The human eye can see light from about 380 nm (at the blue end) to about 750 nm (at the red end). The infrared waves can penetrate deeply to relieve muscle and joint pain. Alternatively, blue light works closer to the skin’s surface. Read more about the science of light therapy in this blog article!
What skincare products can you use with light therapy?
- Use LED light therapy products on a clean face. You can use creams with ingredients like salicylic acid and other beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) alongside your light therapy devices. Retinol or vitamin C serums can be applied after light therapy treatment. Find more details on the types of skincare products used with light therapy here.
Why is FDA clearance important for at-home light therapy skincare devices?
- Safety should be your top priority with any skincare products you purchase, and this extends to light therapy devices. Light therapy devices need to have FDA clearance in the United States. The FDA has not reviewed devices without clearance for potential safety concerns. All of our LED Technologies, Inc., light therapy products are FDA-cleared. You can feel confident in our commitment to your safety.
